Bishop Consecration Sunday

By the Grace of God and the Will of the Moravian Church Northern Provincial Synod 2023, the Rev. Dr. Amy Gohdes-Luhman will be consecrated a Bishop of the Moravian Unity. As her home congregation, we will be helping to facilitate and host the consecration service.  This special service is being planned for Sunday, November 5th, at 4 p.m. with a celebration meal to follow. We hope you mark your calendars and plan to attend! Please watch your email for an electronic invitation and more details.

This is the first time in 13 years that the Northern Province has elected a bishop (even longer since it has been a minister who served in the Western District!). We are honored to be able to celebrate Pastor Amy and her continued ministry!

Please RSVP by Monday, October 23 electronically or to the church office.

Gray Area Thinking

Gray Area Thinking

All humans habitually categorize and group others who are “different” from “us,” which often lends to black and white thinking, as in “good” versus “bad” or “native” versus “immigrant” and a host of other isolating labels. With this inclusivity presentation, Ellen (Ellie) Krug offers an innovative toolset—Gray Area Thinking©—for interacting with diverse humans in a mindful and compassionate way. Attendees will appreciate and value how it’s necessary to consciously engage in Gray Area Thinking© in their daily activities. Doing so will lead to a more inclusive life!
Gray Area Thinking© is a simple three-part toolset for interacting with diverse humans: (1) awareness of another human’s vulnerability or suffering; (2) risk-taking to alleviate or lessen that vulnerability or suffering; and (3) compassion and kindness both for others and for oneself.
Event is free, but donations are welcomed.
Gray Area Thinking is presented by creator Ellie Krug. More can be found out about the presenter at https://elliekrug.com
