Meet Our Pastor:
Rev. Cathy Kolwey
Rev. Cathy Kolwey is originally an East Coaster, born and raised in Southern Maryland, who moved to New York City "the minute she could" after graduation. She is a second-career pastor, whose first career was as a textile designer in the fashion industry, which brought her to Minnesota to work for Target Corporation in 2006.
She is ordained through the United Church of Christ, but has worked with many denominations, including Presbyterian (PCUSA), UCC, Lutheran (ELCA), and Moravian. She took her first call and moved to Carver County in 2016 and has worked in both pastoral ministry and hospital chaplaincy for the past 10 years.
An artist at heart, her theology includes a deep belief that we are made in the image of a Creator God, and the highest form of creativity we have in our lives is loving others. She brings her artistry into ministry through both community art and healing art modalities, and has played at the intersection of spirituality and the arts as a retreat/workshop leader for nearly twenty years.
When not doing ministry, Cathy is an avid basketball fan (Gophers, Wolves, Lynx, and Terps) and spends her free time in various creative endeavors (writing, poetry, painting, and mixed media arts, and architecture), and she enjoys traveling with her two favorite people — her son Sam and her partner Erik.
