Meet Our Pastor:
Dr. Amy Gohdes-Luhman
Hello, I am Pastor Amy. I have been an ordained pastor since 1996 and grew up in the church as the daughter of Bob Gohdes, also a pastor in the Moravian Church. I have attended church camp nearly my entire life and find this to be foundational in my relationship with Christ. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 with a BA in English Literature. In 1993 I received my Masters of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, PA and completed a Ph.D. in Hebrew and Rhetoric from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 2004. I have had the opportunity to teach for 10 years at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, offering scholarly lectures at the Society of Biblical Literature National Meetings as well as teaching and leading workshops on a variety of biblical topics throughout the country.
I am married and have three children and enjoy theme parks, gardening, cross-country skiing, yoga and swimming. I have a deep love for the church, understanding it to be a complex and sometimes complicated model of Christ's love. I am most comfortable and joyful behind a pulpit and seek to preach in a way that engages critical thinking as well as emotional connections. I enjoy teaching Adult Sunday School and leading youth groups. I am committed to a vision of the church in service to its community and actively look for ways to live out this mission. I continue to be blessed to be able to realize my vocation as a pastor within the body of Christ.
