Hello!

Good day all! Today as I write this our eldest, Addison, is getting ready to fly to England for a year of study. She will be at University of Worcester in the West Midlands, England. She is very excited and very nervous. I put together the following letter for her. You may find some of it helpful as you face a time of transition in your life. I am so grateful for my faith that my family instilled in me and so grateful my daughter shares this faith. Finally I am grateful my faith is nurtured in the church with all of you!

Dear Addison,

Here are some words you can read for encouragement in your new adventure. We love you and we are proud of you! With God’s help, you have got this!

From Grandpa Bob’s Prayer Journal:

Sept 3, 1981
Dear Lord, God of the Universe, Mighty in Power and Wisdom, yet personal and Fatherly to all your children. How thankful I am that I am yours, that I have been taught about you and that your Spirit has called to me.

Sept 24, 1981
In thankfulness and praise I come to you this morning Lord. Thank you for your protection for the rest of the past night and for the excitement of this new day. O Lord, there is so much to be grateful for…

From the Moravian Daily Text September 24, 2021:

“The hope of the righteous ends in gladness.” Prov. 10:28

“We do not want you to become lazy, but to be like those who believe and are patient, and so receive what God has promised.” Hebrews 6:12

Prayer: Our God of hope, with glad hearts we give you praise. Guard us against complacency and ease. We do not desire to miss your kingdom’s goal, but rather to receive your promise. In Jesus’ Name, we pray Amen.

From the Bible:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

“Whenever the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, the Israelites would set out on each stage of their journey; but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, before the eyes of all the house of Israel at each stage of their journey.” Exodus 40:36-38

“But now thus says the LORD,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
Do not remember the former things,
or consider the things of old.
I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43:1-2, 18-19

“And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid “Jesus, John 14:27

Addison, God goes with you on this next stage of your journey! Open your eyes to everything that God wants to show to you. Embrace this adventure and know that you are filled with the Holy Spirit at all times. We love you and our prayers are surrounding you!!
